Places to eat in Durban

If someone told me that the best eating places are in Durban. I would agree. Here’s a list of places that I have really enjoyed eating at with friends and family.

Smokin’ Joes: Smokin Joes OG burger is the best smashburger I have ever had in my life. It’s always our first stop when we’re in Durban.

Strangers Coffee: I have a soft spot for Stranger’s Coffee because my best friend took me here. I had a toasted steak on white bread and she had the pastrami one on sourdough. Her baby loved the crisp they gave us on the side. We also had iced coffee which easily makes my list of Top 3 iced coffees.

Vapor Cafe: Vapor Cafe is my sister’s favourite. So it’s always a must visit. We ordered prawn platters and they were a hit.

The Empire Steak: Our favourites at The Empire Steak are the potato nachos starter and the crème brûlée (if you leave me alone with the dessert, I would simply leave nothing for anyone else). The Empire Steak Blast is also really good.

Toast Office: This place is an absolute gem. I went here with a work friend and we absolutely loved it. I didn’t get any pictures of the food but I got the chili shroom sandwich (which was mouthwatering) and she had the toasted steak which was also really good.

Pizza Boyz: The Margherita pizza was a hit.

Rox Coffee Co: This is the perfect stop as a reward after a walk on the promenade in Umhlanga.

Colaba Ice Cream: We stopped here for dessert and hot drinks. We ordered brownies, cheese cake and crème brûlée which was so good.

Simply Asia: We ordered sushi from the Gateway Simply Asia and it was really good.

Romano Ice Cream: Romano Ice Cream is open until late which is great. We had waffles, ice cream and coffee (which was my favourite) and everything was really good.

Mochachos Pearls: Based on my best friend’s recommendation, we had the chicken strips. And we can confirm that the Mochachos Pearls chickens strips are the absolute best. It is worth a special stop for it.

Milky Lane Umhlanga Sands: Milky Lane is super nostalgic for me. We had the savoury waffles and honestly, they tasted as good as I remember them as a kid.

Wedgewood Store: There’s a beautiful Wedgewood store in Ballito that is worth a visit. The ice cream is absolutely delicious.
