We spent a few days at Cayley Mountain Resort in Drakensberg and we honestly had the best time. It was the perfect almost end of year getaway and it recharged our batteries to tackle the last two months of the year.

The resort has loads of activities for the whole family including: putt putt, jumping castles, jungle gyms, a spa, cayley beach club (think of a mini Wipe Out course on the water), quad biking and swimming pools that overlook the beautiful berg giving you the perfect sunset views.

The best part of these kind of holidays is that you can’t go anywhere at night so you can just spend time with your family. We played a few games of 30 seconds (obviously, I behaved) and just got to spend some quality time with each other.

Highlights of the resort
1. We had so much of fun doing the Wipe out course on the water despite it being mostly for kids.

2. We did the guided quad biking up the mountain which was a really cool family activity and an absolute blast for all of us.

3. To get bonus points with my little cousins, I took them to play putt putt at the resort.

4. The infinity swimming pool: the picture below is enough to convince you that it is the PERFECT sunset spot.

5. The chalet we stayed in had a plunge pool which my baby cousin loved.

6. In the event that it’s cold, there’s a fireplace in the chalet that makes the place feel super cozy.

7. The resort has hammocks that overlook the mountains and I promise that it’s a great nap spot.

Twenty minutes from the resort lies a heaven for chocolate lovers called Drakensberg Chocolate Lovers. They have the BEST fondue, chocolate lava cakes and hot chocolate. We actually ended up going twice so that’s definitely a testament to how good it was.

There was also a bakery called The Valley Bakery that we found near the chocolate shop. My favourite from here was definitely the pecan pie.

All in all, Cayley Mountain Resort is the perfect local getaway and I can’t wait to go back!
