Tuesday – 17/12/2024 | Al-Widaa Aqsa and Ziyarah in Jordan

We caught the prettiest sunrise to bid farewell (until we return again Insha’Allah) to Al-Aqsa. We packed everything up, had some coffee and the guy came to fetch our bags.

We walked up to Damascus gate trying to soak in as much as we could of the old city but before we knew it, Abu Saleh was picking us up, loading our bags and taking us to the border.

On the way, we passed Azaria. When Nabi Uzayr A.S. came from Iraq, he was tired. He found a tree (not pictured below), tied the donkey and he slept. Two people came to him and said “ya Nabiullah how long did you sleep?” He says he was very tired and he slept for 1 day. The two people (who were angels in the form of humans) tell him that he slept for 100 years. Everything around him died but Allah gave him life again.

Then we passed the trees of Harqad. When Imaam Mahdi comes the people will fight, everything will talk except the Harqad trees.

We then passed the Dead Sea which is 500m down.

Our next stop was Nabi Moosa A.S.’s grave and masjid. Nabi Moosa A.S. told the people to come with him to Baitul Maqdas. They told him you and your Lord go. As punishment, the people stayed wandering this area for 40 years.

We then made our way to the border. We waited about an hour before we got to through so I would advise leaving as early as possible and not stopping anywhere.

We gave them our exit pass, they gave us white tickets in return and then we went to the counter. She gave us our pink exit passes and then we went to purchase our tickets for the bus. It was about 100 ILS for five of us.

We got onto the shuttle, waited for it to load up and the proceeded to the Amman border. We passed over King Hussein bridge once again and before we knew it, the shuttle driver collected our passports to take to the officials and asked us to wait on the bus. He came back, and we went into immigration to collect our passports. We collected them and walked out of the border to where Abu Ahmed was waiting for us to begin our ziyarah.

The first stop was the grave of Sayyidina Dirar bin Azwar R.A. Not much is written about this great Sahaabi as he accepted Islaam after the conquest of Makkah. He was a great warrior in Islam (he was so brave he fought without a shirt and without armour) and he was known as the Lion of the Ummah. He was so fearless that the very mention of his name amongst the enemy would cause them to shiver. When we visited his grave, there is a small hole at the top from which the most beautiful smell emanates.

We then visited the grave of Sayyidina Abu Ubaidah bin Jarrah R.A. Sayyidina Abu Ubaidah R.A. was known as the trustworthy one of the ummah as Nabi ﷺ said (something to the effect): “Every nation has a trustworthy man, and the trustworthy man of this (Muslim) nation is Abu Ubaidah.” Sayyidina Abu Ubaidah R.A. was one of those ten sahabah (Asharah Mubasharah) who have been guaranteed Jannah by Nabi ﷺ. Sayyidina Abu Ubaidah R.A. passed away from the plague in Amwaas. This was a quick stop because when we got there, there was a janazah being taken place. The graveyard is behind the masjid.

The next grave we visited was that of Sayyidina Shurahbeel bin Hasanah R.A. He was from amongst the first few to accept Islam. He was also one of the scribes of Wahi. Sayyidina Shurahbeel R.A. also passed away in the plague on the same day as Sayyidina Abu Ubaidah R.A.

As we were driving through the mountains of Amman to our next stop, the sun began to set and the views were stunning.

We reached the grave of Nabi Yusha A.S. around Maghrib. Nabi Yusha A.S. was the great grandson of Nabi Yusuf A.S. with his full name being Yusha bin Nun bin Afraeem bin Yusuf. He accompanied Nabi Moosa A.S. when Nabi Moosa A.S. travelled with Khidr A.S. After the Bani Israeel fled Egypt and wandered the desert for 40 years and Nabi Moosa A.S. passed away close to Masjid-ul-Aqsa, Nabi Yusha A.S. took over and led the Bani Israeel over the River Jordan and into the surroundings of Jericho. It is said that when they were about to take the city of Jerusalem it was on a Friday at Asr time. The sunset was close approaching which would mean that it would go into sabbath (Saturday), therefore they would have had to cease fighting. Nabi Yusha A.S. addressed the sun that it was under a command while he was under another command and he prayed to Allah, “O Allah, hold it back from setting!” It was stopped until Allah made him victorious. A hadith has been narrated from Sayyidina Abu Hurairah R.A. that Nabi ﷺ said, “Surely, the sun has never been stopped from setting down for a human being except for on the evening that he conquered the Bayt al-Maqdis.” Nabi Yusha A.S.’s grave is about 9m long, not because he was so tall but because they are not sure of the exact spot.

We also passed the piece of land where it is said that Nabi Ayoob A.S. is buried.

Our next stop was the grave of Nabi Shuaib A.S. Nabi Shuaib A.S. is mentioned 11 times in the Qur’aan and is renowned for his eloquence and good speech. There is a small natural hole at his grave from which the most beautiful fragrance emanates. It is unlike anything I have ever smelt in my entire life, if I could’ve, I would’ve spent all my time there just smelling that fragrance.

At this point, we had only eaten padkos the whole day and we were starving. Abu Ahmed took us straight to Chappati where we had an absolute feast. It felt so good to eat some “ghar ka khana”.

We then went straight to the Airbnb where we all hit the pillow almost immediately because we needed a solid sleep before ziyarah tomorrow.

Please note: the only graves that we are 100% sure of is the graves of Nabi , Sayyidina Abu Bakr R.A. and Sayyidina Umar R.A., all the graves we see throughout this trip – Allahu ‘Alam – Allah knows best. Also, all the various theories that are mentioned have multiple versions and not all is fact – once again, Allahu ‘Alam – Allah knows best.

Step count: 5 857 (weak but we spent most of the day in the car)
