Sunday – 30/11/2025 | Oranjezicht Market | V&A Waterfront

Waking up in Cape Town just hits different. Nothing is better than seeing the ocean first thing in the morning.

My little bestie (she’s 17 but will forever be little bestie) and I took a stroll in the morning in search of some coffee. We found a cute Seattle with an ocean view obviously, coffee hits different with the ocean in front of you. We walked back to the Airbnb where I had a basic breakfast of avo tast which was a 10/10.

We then got ready and made our way to Oranjezicht Market. It was their last day at that spot, they have since moved to a new address.

When you enter the market, there’s pretty flowers which we would’ve definitely bought if we lived in CT and were taking them home. We basically ate our way through the market.

So here’s a list of things we bought:

  1. Cheesecake: solid 7
  2. Stuffed crumpets (idk what they’re actually called): the custard one was my favourite: 8/10
  3. Strawberry matcha – my cousin said this was the best one she had in CT
  4. Chocolate strawberries: 9/10
  5. Strawberries and cream: 10/10 – the strawberries were huge and absolutely delicious
  6. Lobster: 8/10 – it was the first time I ate this, I think it needed a little more sauce
  7. Fudge: don’t think it was that great because there was leftovers

The market had the nicest looking vegetables and again, we would’ve bought if we were living in CT.

Despite all the snacking we were ready for some actual lunch so we made our way to Makers Landing got Tasca Mozambique. I remember Makers Landing having a nice vibe the last time we came, but it was quite quiet this time (maybe because we weren’t there during peak time?).

Tasca never disappoints. We got prawns to share and they were delicious and cooked just right. The peri peri sauce is the winner. We also got wraps and the chicken fillet which came with a salad. The coleslaw is also really lekker.

We then stopped at the Charming Chef where she was making Dubai Chocolate bars. We bought one and it was really good, she also has other items on the menu so visit her stall if you’re at Makers Landing.

After this, we needed to walk off all those calories so we made our way to the V&A to see what Black Friday sales were still on. Spoiler alert: I guess the sales weren’t that great because we didn’t get anything. Walking around the V&A is still a vibe though.

There’s a new (to us I guess) Wedgewood store so we stopped for some ice cream and then made our way to the Airbnb to chill.

Once again, we ran down for the sunset after maghrib. Give me the sunset and the ocean and I’m honestly at my happiest.

After the long day, we ordered in some Simply Asia (@ my work friends – you know my standard is 514) which was really good.

We then got comfy for the night and started a game of Monopoly. I hadn’t played in years which made it even more fun. Little did I know, this game will go on for the next three nights.
