Friday – 19/01/2023 | Jummah in Madinah

This morning, I woke up in time for Jummah. The last time we came for umrah, I remembered jummah being extremely busy in Madinah so I knew there was no way that I would be able to get a space in the haram as the crowd was even bigger this time.

I was right. The masjid was full. The area under the umbrellas was full. The streets were full. It was a sight to behold. And we watched it from our hotel room window.

After the men came back from Jummah salaah, we had chicken karahi and chicken biryani for lunch and it was delicious.

After lunch, we decided to go to a shopping centre on the opposite side of the haram. The walk through the haram is honestly so peaceful. The umbrellas really help to keep you cool and you feel in awe of the beautiful architecture of the masjid.

We stopped near the Green Dome for a bit and the vibe is just different on a jummah. Somehow it feels even more peaceful and even more pure.

We then walked across the street to the shopping centre. Honestly, they had the same things that Taiba Centre has, we just had to walk a bit more for it.

After some shopping, we walked back to the room. I caught up with my cousins and we made it back to the haram in time for maghrib athaan.

Maghrib in Madinah is my favourite time of the day. The sky is absolutely breathtaking. Today it was shades of pink and purple. I will forever be the girl that gets super excited when the sky is in pretty colours.

After maghrib we walked back to the room and chilled for a bit. Since all of us were a bit sick, a doctor came to check us. Shout out to my fam’s fam.

After Esha and some pizza (which was super good!) we decided that we were going to see the hype that is Quba Front.

Quba Front is a walkway that starts in the haram and leads to Masjid Quba. The street is filled with shops selling everything from abayas to oud to perfume to wedding dresses to food.

We took a taxi to the start of the street but it’s about a fifteen walk. The area is quite a vibe because there’s people chilling with their families, shopping and eating.

We walked around for about two hours exploring the street. The abayas are slightly cheaper than Taiba Centre but personally, I prefer Taiba Centre shopping.

We took a taxi back to the room and settled in for the night. We had to sleep early because we had ziyaret the next day.
