Saturday – 29/11/2025 l Johannesburg to Cape Town

This trip was a spur of the moment decision but came at exactly the right time. Alhamdulillah.

I met my family at the airport just in time to swiftly pass my ID to my Mamajee at the check in counter. We checked in quickly and made our way to the passport area, scanned our things and went to have lunch at Crumbs & Cream. The food was really good and I was really pumped to just get on the flight – you know as soon as you start reading qasr salaah, the holiday feeling hits.

We boarded our flight and got settled in our seats. We took off and the seatbelt light stayed on because there was hectic, Manifest-like turbulence. Note to self: make sure you always carry your jacket with you (even if you don’t have luggage) because wow, the flight got cold.

About two hours later, THE Mountain was in sight and I was over the moon. I had forgotten how beautiful Table Mountain is and it’s even more beautiful looking out at it in the air.

We disembarked the plane, collected our luggage and made our way to pick up the rental car. The holiday fever set in as we left the airport and I couldn’t hold in my excitement at seeing the Mountain.

We drove through town and things started looking familiar. I can’t get over how pretty and clean the CBD is. We reached our Airbnb at Mouille Point and life felt good – sunshine, the ocean and the Mountain.

The best part of Cape Town is how late the sun sets. After Maghrib, my cousin and I ran down to catch the sunset on the promenade and it did not disappoint. Mouille Point is honestly my favourite place to watch the sky change colour. It blows my mind every time and I loved watching the sky go from soft pinks to golds to blue and purples. I will always be the girl who gets excited when the sky has pretty colours.

After this, we made our way to Brash for some smash burgers. It was a 10 minute wait. While we waited for our food, we made our way to Moro Gelato, I needed to satisfy my two year old pistachio gelato craving. We took our burgers for takeaway as the seating area is small and there wasn’t place available and made our way back to the Airbnb. The burgers were amazing and easily one of the best smash burgers I’ve ever had.

After failing our attempt to watch a movie, we had a nice big yap session and then went straight to sleep.

Step count: 9 547
